Plans to expand Will County, Ill., construction and demolition debris landfill have stalled over the issue of whether to hire a landfill expert to review the proposal, according to a report in Southtown Today (Tinley Park, Ill.).
According to the report, Waste Management officials have been promoting a plan for the last two years to expand the landfill, which accepts special material including C&D debris but not residential garbage.
The company has offered to spend $23 million to cap a nearby pile of gypsum in exchange for the expansion project.
Company officials have said hiring a consultant to examine its proposal is unnecessary, according to the report.
