Designs for a $95 million wood-burning power plant have been presented to the Hinsdale, N.H., Planning Board, according to a report in the Battleboro Reformer (Battleboro, Vt.).
Power plant project developer GenPower LLC, based in Needham, Mass., made the proposal, which also includes a $7 million construction and demolition facility that would supply about 15 percent of the plant’s fuel, according to the report.
The processing operation would accept debris from a 50-mile radius and it would be capable of handling between 600 and 750 tons of material per day, the Battleboro Reformer reports.
GenPower’s preliminary plan says the project could bring about 51 jobs to Hinsdale and pump an additional $1 million in annual tax revenue into the local economy.
However, some residents tell the Battleboro Reformer that the plan raises concerns over increased traffic, noise and pollution.
