Burns & McDonnell adds to environmental team

Don Schriber has led large-scale environmental construction and remediation projects

Shriber B&MDon Schriber has joined Burns & McDonnell as manager of business development in the firm's environmental group. He works with industrial, federal and municipal clients to provide environmental services on large remediation, design-build and engineer-procure-construct projects.

Schriber arrives with broad experience in environmental services, having carried national profit-and-loss, program management and project responsibilities for work in transportation, water, wastewater, environmental engineering, construction and demolition projects. He has led teams in successfully providing multiple services to clients in the manufacturing, high-tech and petrochemical industries. Schriber's federal experience includes project work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Air Force, Federal Emergency Management Agency and Department of Energy.

"Don has worked on many complex and high-profile environmental projects in the U.S., and he brings a valuable perspective to our work to help us meet the increasingly diverse demands that our clients are facing," says Steve Nalefski, vice president of the environmental group. "Don knows the pressures. He understands the needs. He's ready to help us deliver innovative solutions to make our clients successful."

While Schriber is based in the firm's Wallingford, Connecticut, office, focusing on clients and projects in the Northeast, his work stretches from coast to coast. Prior to joining Burns & McDonnell, he managed several hundred million dollars of regional engineering and construction operations and projects in California, New York, and Georgia.

Such large environmental projects, he says, will further benefit from the client-first culture at Burns & McDonnell, a company that is 100 percent owned by its employees. The approach will be key to helping extend the reach of the firm's ongoing strengths in the power, industrial, and remediation markets — and beyond.

"Employee-ownership is not just a mentality. It's in our company's DNA, and it truly translates into tangible client success," Schriber says. "With every discipline under one roof, I see endless opportunities here. I'm looking forward to bringing additional tools and experience to our new and existing relationships, and to solving challenges that will benefit our clients and our environment."
