BPB Plans New Wallboard Plant in W.Va.

$100 million facility could create 200 new jobs.

British-based building materials manufacturer BPB plans to build a new gypsum wallboard manufacturing facility near American Electric Power’s (AEP) Mitchell power plant near Moundsville, W. Va., according to a report in the Wheeling Intelligencer (Wheeling, W.Va.).

The Intelligencer reports that BPB has made a long-term agreement with AEP to purchase gypsum byproduct from scrubbers currently being constructed at the Mitchell plant and plans to build a $100 million wallboard facility nearby.

The plant, scheduled to be commissioned during the second half of 2007, could bring as many as 200 jobs to the area, according to the report.
