Body of missing Ohio demolition worker found after nearly month-long search

After nearly a month of searching following the Killen Generating Station collapse in Adams County, Ohio, the body of demolition worker James “Jamie” Fitzgerald has been found.

“The loved ones and immediate family of Jamie Fitzgerald have been notified that he has been located at the Killen Generating Station site in Adams County, Ohio. First responders and federal officials have also been notified," said Adamo Group, the Detroit-based contractor overseeing the power plant demolition, in a statement. "Crews from the Adamo Group are currently working to safely recover him. More information will be announced as it becomes available.”

Fitzgerald was one of two local men who were unaccounted for following the collapse on Dec. 9, 2020. The body of Clyde “Doug” Gray was discovered that following Saturday, Dec. 12.

As reported by The Daily Independent, Adamo Group had previously announced Fitzgerald’s death on Dec. 14, but released a later statement that indicated the recovery of his body could take up to another month, with a projected date of mid- to late January.
