Bigge Crane and Rigging Relocating Virginia Facility

New complex is more than twice the size of its current location.

Bigge Crane and Rigging, a crane sales, crane rental, and heavy haul transportation and rigging company headquartered in San Leandro, Calif., will be relocating its Richmond, Va., location to a complex more than twice the size of its current facility. While the new facility will still be in Richmond, it will be more than 12 acres, and will be the headquarters for all the company’s heavy haul transportation and crane and rigging operations on the Eastern seaboard.

Along with the new location, Bigge is increasing the size of its crane fleet. The company is adding more than 20 rough terrain cranes, as well as 12 crawler cranes with maximum lift capacities from 100 to 440 tons. To operate the expanded facility, Bigge has hired additional mechanics, truck drivers and inside sales personnel to keep up with the increased demand for their services on the East Coast.

“Our current location in Richmond couldn’t keep up with our work load,” says Joe Nelms, VP of Sales and Marketing, in a release. “Adding to our fleet and moving to this new complex will help us satisfy the demand.”
Bigge also recently added to its Seattle location’s sales staff and expanded into crane rental there. The company also says that it has reinforced its Houston fleet by taking delivery of several Link-Belt HC-278 truck cranes and a large crawler from the port of Galveston as Bigge expands into the Houston crane rental market.
