Salt Lake City, Utah-based Big-D Companies has named Cory Moore as its new CEO. Big-D describes itself as ranked among the nation’s largest builders, and on its website says it having built some 150,000,000 million square feet of structural space, with more than 75 projects having attained Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building certification.
Previous CEO, Rob Moore, will remain involved with Big-D as the company’s executive chairman. “This is a significant announcement for our company and future,” says Rob Moore. “We have worked on our succession planning over the last decade, and this strategic move is part of that plan and is a major step in realizing our goals.”
A unanimous decision by the Big-D Companies board of directors will result in Cory Moore taking responsibility for its 14 offices nationwide, says the company. Those offices are located in Salt Lake City, Ogden, Lindon and Park City, Utah; Tempe, Arizona; Pleasanton and Irvine, California; Boise and Idaho Falls, Idaho; Saint Paul, Minnesota; Bozeman, Montana; Las Vegas and Reno, Nevada; and Jackson, Wyoming.
“Cory is the right leader for Big-D,” says Jack Livingood, Big-D’s board chairman. “Cory’s extensive experience along with his leadership and communication skills will help us grow our national footprint to better serve our customers. Big-D is in good hands with Cory.”
Cory Moore has been with Big-D for nearly 25 years and has been involved in many of what Big-D calls its most iconic projects. He already had been serving as the company’s national president and as a member of the board of directors.
“I am very excited for the opportunities and challenges ahead,” says Cory Moore. “Big-D has a great business model and extraordinarily talented people. We are well positioned to become one of the most sought-after construction companies in the business.”
Although Big-D does not list demolition specifically among the services it offers, it does indicate involvement in numerous commercial and institutional renovation and remodeling projects. Some of its recent work at Salt Lake City International Airport has involved attaining LEED Gold certification.
