Benlee Seeks to Boost Operations

Equipment manufacturer focuses on increasing its business with strategic investments.

Benlee, a manufacturer of roll-offs and trailers, is looking to boost its business after being acquired by a Detroit industrialist.

Greg Brown purchased Benlee late last year. Since acquiring the company Benlee has focused on boosting its operations in two key areas,” Brown notes. These include improving the actual manufacturing facility and investing in improved software.

As for improving the facility, Brown adds that this includes more sophisticated welding equipment and other tools so the company can improve its products.

On the software side, which includes a revamped Web site, Benlee has installed a number of software programs that will both reduce inventory of material on hand and boost the service side of the business, both key areas to grow the business, Brown notes. One program of note is the Customer Relationship Management software, which will allow the company to track every customer and every unit made.

While the company has developed a strong business in the scrap and recycling industry, Benlee is also looking at growing its business in the waste hauling side of the business. Further, the company is looking at additional products to boost the company’s operations.

While Brown has taken over ownership of Benlee, Bill Wolok, who started the company in the 1960’s, will continue to work for Benlee, and is expected to be an integral part of the company going forward.

"Through new investments, we are building on Benlee's great heritage and increasing its speed, responsiveness and value to the market," Brown said. "Our No. 1 goal is to support and lead the market with great products and services.  We have an experienced team, we are committed and we are making it

Brown said the heart of Benlee's parts and service operation is the detailed files of each trailer and truck the company has built for the past 30-plus years -- most of which are still on the road.  Benlee carries replacement parts for every unit it has built, which maximizes its customers' uptime.
