Messe München, the exhibition company that organizes the world’s largest trade fair for construction machinery, bauma, has announced new features and a record number of exhibitors who will be presenting their products and services this year in Munich, Germany, on April 8-14.
Bauma, which takes place every three years, has already scheduled more than 3,500 exhibitors from 55 countries—almost 100 more than the last conference in 2016. The trade show features construction machinery, vehicles and equipment, along with building material and mining machines.
A new feature, bauma PLUS, is opening the fair to more exhibitors and allowing them to present their company in a compact area. The trade show will also feature a new flexible co-working area where visitors can meet exhibitors.
“The industry is booming, which is also reflected in the growth of bauma. We’ve taken account of the rise in demand and expanded our site in eastern Munich to 614,000 square meters (6,609,000 square feet),” says Klaus Dittrich, the chairman and CEO of Messe München. “Our aim is to offer a platform to as many exhibitors as possible. With bauma 2019, we continue to surpass ourselves – also digitally.”
Another new aspect for this year includes a virtual and augmented reality segment that will use a combination of images, sounds and sensor feedback, like wind, to immerse attendees into the industry.
“The booths have size limits, [but] the digital area is limitless. With new virtual offerings, we’re bringing the construction site into the trade fair and expanding our digital portfolio,” says Mareile Kästner, a project manager.
Organizers expect the new features to draw a record crowd of more than 600,000.
In 2016, bauma broke all its previous records, attracting more than 3,425 exhibitors from 58 countries and drawing nearly 585,000 visitors from around the world.
Visitors can find the latest list of exhibitors online in the bauma exhibitor database. More information about the trade show is available at www.bauma.de.
