AYD Waste Services provides recycling for new luxury condominium complex in Texas capital

Fifth and West condominium tower will be one of the tallest in Austin, Texas.

In recent years, Austin, Texas, has been undergoing an ongoing effort to entice more residents to move to the downtown area. The state capital is currently experiencing a building boom, and one of the most exciting residential construction projects is the Fifth and West condominium tower in Austin, Texas. The building, once complete will be 39 stories and 448 feet tall, making it one of the tallest buildings downtown. Recycling and waste management for this Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) project is being provided by Austin dumpster rental company, AYD Waste Services.

Formerly the location of the historic Texas Press Association at the northeast corner of 5th and West streets, the upscale tower will include 154 luxury condos and various amenities, with retail space at the ground level of the building. Once complete, the development will include conference spaces, outdoor and indoor lounge area, a fitness center, yoga studio, coffee bar, pool deck and a dog park. Construction began in August, 2015, and is expected to be complete by fall 2017.

The LEED project meets strict sustainable design and construction requirements to ensure minimal environmental impact. AYD Waste Services is certified to properly manage these projects, as part of their active involvement in Austin’s green building initiatives, including the Universal Recycling Ordinance, the Green Building Council, Austin Energy Green Building, and the Austin Apartment Association. For the 5th and West condominiums, AYD is providing 20, 30 and 40 yard roll-off dumpsters and frequent hauling to local recycling facilities. They also provide monthly reports documenting construction recycling to adhere to LEED guidelines and requirements.

“The waste industry is a huge component of the growth Austin is currently experiencing,” explains Chuck Herb, owner of AYD Waste Services. “It’s important to us that we help minimize environmental impact by providing construction recycling services to large scale construction projects, like the 5th and West condominiums.”
