A motel in New Jersey may be facing demolition after a drug raid incident and two fires, a report by The Press of Atlantic City says. The owner of Bayview Inn & Suites in Atlantic City has until Nov. 12 to file paperwork with the city to save the business.
Dale Finch, Atlantic City’s director of licensing and inspections, says in the report that the owner must file a concrete plan with the city, such as renovation, demolition or a license for occupancy, before the city beings to process the property for demolition.
The Bayview Inn & Suites has been the center of attention after an Aug. 15 drug raid at the motel displaced 33 people. An alligator that was illegally kept at the motel as a pet escaped and was found in the pool. It was captured by animal control of South Jersey, the report says.
After the raid, the motel caught fire twice. Both fires are considered suspicious and are still undergoing investigation, Atlantic City Fire Chief Scott Evans says in the report.
