Nearly 2 million pounds of asphalt shingles may be bound for use in
According to the report, the Scott County (Iowa) Waste Commission has diverted some 2 million pounds of shingles from the county landfill since January and recently ground them up to be used in making an asphalt road.
The commission received a grant of $450,000 from the state Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to help with this recycling effort.
