The high cost of asphalt has been having a negative impact on paving projects in Alabama, according to a report in the Montgomery Advertiser (Montgomery, Ala.).
The price of asphalt has nearly tripled since last summer, jumping from around $23 per ton to nearly $60, according to the report.
The high prices have state and city paving projects either on hold or not going as far as originally intended.
