During its 30th Annual Meeting in Palm Springs, Calif., in February, the Asphalt Recycling & Reclaiming Association (ARRA) announced the recipients of its Annual Awards for Excellence, given this year to two public officials in two of the technical disciplines represented by the organization. Candidates for this award are typically public officials or specialists in the field of asphalt recycling.
ARRA’s 2006 winners by category are: Joseph F. Peterson, district materials engineer (North Region) of the California Department of Transportation and Joe Schroer, field materials engineer (Central Materials Lab) of the Missouri Department of Transportation.
Peterson received the award for Excellence in Full Depth Reclamation, and Schroer received the Charles R. Valentine Award for Excellence in Cold In-Place Recycling.
During the same meeting, the ARRA also elected Tom Johnson as its president for 2006-2007.
As president of MidState Reclamation Inc., Lakeville, Minn., Johnson is involved in full-depth reclamation, cold in-place recycling, cold milling and soil stabilizations. A member of the ARRA Board since 2000, Johnson has served as vice president and secretary treasurer of the association, and as program chairman and chairman of the ARRA’s Technical Subcommittee on Full Depth Reclamation.
The Asphalt Recycling & Reclaiming Association is a non-profit trade association of contractors, equipment manufacturers, suppliers, public officials and engineers engaged in the recycling and reclaiming of asphalt.
