Anaheim, Calif., Library Awaits LEED Certification

New library to join other green certified buildings in Orange County.

The Haskett Branch Library in Anaheim, Calif., is expected to achieve green building certification from the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program, according to a report in the OC Register (Santa Ana, Calif.).

The library reopened in May 2006 at a cost of $8.7 includes green building features like the use of recycled building materials, energy-efficient lighting and water-saving inferred technology in bathrooms, according to the report.

City officials expect the library to attain certification by fall. It will join several other Orange County building that are already LEED certified, including the Fullerton Aboretum Visitor Center at Cal State Fullerton and a Ford Motor Co. building in Irvine.
