Ammo Plant to Get New Life as Wisconsin Highway

State DOT to recycle Badger Army Ammunition Plant in road reconstruction.

Concrete from the old Badger Army Ammunition Plant in Baraboo, Wis., will be reused in the reconstruction of part of a central Wisconsin highway, according to a report in the Duluth News Tribune (Duluth, Minn.).

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) plans to grind more than 80,000 tons of concrete from the plant’s buildings as part of a renovation of Wisconsin 78 in two years, according to the report.

According to the Duluth News Tribune, the recently passed federal transportation bill will provide $500,000 for the concrete removal project.
