The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Portland, has announced plans to issue a new solid waste material recovery permit to American Gypsum Recycling for its facility in Turner, Oregon. If approved, the permit will authorize the owner and operator of the facility to operate the facility in conformance with the requirements, limitations and conditions set forth in the permit.
The permit American Gypsum is seeking would regulate the processing of wallboard from construction and demolition sites. The permit holder is not permitted to accept any other waste at the facility without first obtaining DEQ approval in writing.
Before awarding the company a permit the DEQ is seeking comments from the public on the proposed permit.
The DEQ received the solid waste disposal site permit application from the company on March 7, 2018.
Residents interested in submitting comments on the proposed permit are asked to send them to DEQ Permit Coordinator Denise Miller at 165 E. Seventh Ave., Suite 100, Eugene, OR 97401 or miller.denise@deq.state.or.us.
