Allied Waste Holds Open House for New C&D Recycling Facility

Facility is scaled to handle 1,500 tons of C&D material a day.

Allied Waste recently held an open house at its new Chicago construction and demolition recycling facility. The company points out that the new facility is capable of reaching a recovery rate of 90 percent.

"It was very heartening to learn that Allied is constantly in research and development of new ways of increasing their recycling abilities. Allied Waste has an incredible vision for the future, "said Greg Grunloh Associate Architect, Holabird & Root.

"The open house event allowed industry leaders an inside look at the facility and the recycling technologies we use to provide clean and environmentally sound separation of C&D waste," said Bob Kalebich, Allied Waste General Manager.

Covering over 90,000 sq. ft, the construction and demolition recycling plant plays an important role in managing Chicago’s C&D debris, serving as the link between collection and recovery of materials. The facility can accept up to 1,500 tons of C&D debris daily.
