Allied Construction Announces Exec Changes

Matthews stepping down, Scalabrini named CEO.

The Board of Managers of Allied Construction Products LLC, Cleveland, has announced that Leo L. Matthews is stepping down as president and CEO of the firm to assume a limited financial advisory role through 2005. Matthews will remain as a member of the board and retain an ownership position in Allied.

 

The company has also announced the appointment of Robert M. Scalabrini as the new president and CEO. Scalabrini previously served as the executive vice president and chief operating officer during fiscal year 2004.

 

Scalabrini has more than 25 years of construction equipment experience, including more than 20 years in construction and mining equipment at the distributor level, territory management in construction equipment and regional management at the OEM level both domestically and in Europe with the Breakers Lahti division of Sandvik Tamrock Corp.

 

He succeeds Matthews, who has been part of the construction equipment industry for the past 36 years. Matthews has held many key positions throughout the construction equipment industry mostly, with Allied Construction Products LLC (formerly known as Allied Steel & Tractor Products Inc.).

 

He has also served as the Chairman of the Associated Equipment Manufacturer’s MBMB Bureau, which represents suppliers of mounted breakers in North America.

 

Matthews began his Allied career as controller of Allied Steel & Tractor Products Inc., staring in 1969. He was promoted to president in 1978 after Allied re-located to Solon, Ohio. He left Allied in 1984 to assume other positions in the construction equipment industry only to return to the helm of Allied in 1993.

 

Matthews helped supervise the move of the company (now known as Allied Construction Products, LLC) in 1994 to its current home near downtown Cleveland.

 

Allied Construction Products LLC offers a line of backhoe/excavator, skid-steer and mini-excavator mounted attachments, stationary breaking systems, material handling systems and trenchless underground piercing tools through more than 200 U. S. and Canadian distributors.
