The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) crews will continue to demolish the B.B. Comer Bridge over two more days, a report by Waay TV says. The dates are 9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15 and Friday, June 17.
These dates were in addition to the demolition scheduled to take place June 8 at 9 a.m., the report says. According to ALDOT, there will be more blasting dates announced as demolition continues.
All highway and river traffic within a 1,500-foot radius will be stopped before the blasting begins. According to the report, ALDOT estimates traffic on Alabama 35 and Alabama 40 at Alabama 35 will be stopped for 15-20 minutes, beginning shortly after 9 a.m. The agency said river traffic can expect a longer wait.
ALDOT advises motorists to use alternate routes or expect delays.
