The American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), based in Chicago, has released an educational documentary that explores structural steel’s sustainable attributes and construction processes. The video will run as part of the National Environmental Report series airing this fall on PBS stations and other U.S. networks.
"The structural steel industry is honored to be part of the National Environmental Report series," says John Cross, AISC vice president. "The industry is proud of its long history of environmental stewardship and commitment to continual improvement in its sustainable practices. We're tremendously excited to be able to give the public an inside look at our modern, high-tech processes and educate them about how the everyday practices of structural steel contribute to the sustainability of our planet and the built environment."
According to the organization, the documentary takes viewers inside structural steel facilities to see the steelmaking process and describes how the structural steel industry is setting the standard for environmentally green and efficient building material. The film also includes interviews highlighting structural steel's strength, durability, and adaptability.
