Aggregate Industries US, a Holcim Group Co., based in Bedford, Massachusetts, has announced that its Severn asphalt facility received the Gold Achievement Award for exceptional commitment to recycling initiatives.
The Severn asphalt facility, located in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, significantly increased its asphalt recycling activities by 81 percent between 2012 and 2013, earning recognition from the Anne Arundel County recycling committee, according to the company.
Each year Anne Arundel County challenges local businesses to recycle 50 percent of every material that is destined for landfill.
The Gold Achievement Award acknowledges those organizations dedicated to significantly reducing waste and increasing recycling enterprises within the communities they serve, according to county officials.
“Sustainability and protecting the environment is at the forefront of Aggregate Industries’ core values,” says Guy Edwards, chief operating officer of Aggregate Industries US. “This is not only a corporate value but one that each of our facilities abides by. We’re extremely proud that our Severn facility was able to increase its recycling capabilities by such a large margin. We encourage all of our facilities to increase their sustainability efforts 365 days a year.”
Aggregate Industries US provides aggregate and construction materials to markets in 16 states and 300 cities.
