The owners and producers of ConExpo-Con/Agg have signed a new agreement that replaces the joint venture agreement originally signed in 1999, placing the show under the management of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM).
According to a joint release from AEM, the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) and the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA), under the new agreement, AEM will produce the show every three years through 2020, starting with the planning for the 2008 show. Show operations will be conducted from AEM’s Milwaukee headquarters.
Former co-producer the International Concrete and Aggregates Group (ICAG) and its owning associations¾the NRMCA and NSSGA¾will continue to serve as principle sponsors for the show, according to the release.
As owner of Con/Agg, ICAG joined forces with AEM (owner of ConExpo) and began holding the joint show in 1996.
“On behalf of NRMCA, NSSGA and the ICAG negotiating committee, we are pleased to enter into this very important agreement,” says Brenton Cook, ICAG negotiation chairman and senior vice president of Aggregates Industries, Kalamazoo, Mich.
AEM is also optimistic about the change.
“AEM is proud of the confidence shown by our show partners. We accept their trust in a spirit of continuing promotion for the well being of our entire industry,” says Charles Stamp, AEM chairman and vice president of public affairs for Deere & Company, Moline, Ill.
AEM will consult with an advisory board made up of an equal number of representatives from both AEM and ICAG on show matters, according to the release.
Two industry expositions that ConExpo-Con/Agg co-own and produce¾the International Exposition for Power Transmission (IFPE) and the World of Asphalt show¾will also fall under the single management structure.
