Acme Refining, based in Chicago, recently purchased S & C Salvage, a company that primarily serves industrial businesses in the Chicagoland area. S & C is Acme’s 15th acquisition since 1973.
Mike O’Malley, Acme’s chief marketing officer, says, “We welcome the S & C Salvage companies into the Acme family and look forward to serving them for another forty plus years.”
Acme Refining, founded in 1973 by Lou Baron, began as a scrap metal and processing company. Since its founding, the company has expanded its services to include paper and cardboard, plastics, demolition, wood recycling and document destruction.
Acme’s service area spans from southern Wisconsin to western and southern Illinois and all of Indiana and Michigan. The company has seven locations, including a non-ferrous metal warehouse, five steel processing yards, a document destruction facility, a mechanics shop and a welding facility where Acme manufactures and repairs their own industrial equipment.
