UNTHA Shedding Technology GmbH, a Germany-based equipment manufacturer, has announced that it has been awarded the 2010 Salzburg Business Prize for Innovation. Alois Kitzberger, UNTHA CEO, and Christian Lanner, head of engineering management for the company, accepted the award during a ceremony held at Salzburg (Germany) University of Applied Sciences' lecture hall.
UNTHA received the award for its TR Series of secondary waste shredders. The shredders are used to treat and produce refuse-derived fuels (RDF).
The company says the shredder is reliable, efficient and productive. Features include an inlet configuration, which works without a ram; a foreign (unshreddable) object protection mechanism; and a patented quick-change cutting system.
"The increased efficiency and material throughput, low operating costs and short payback period have led to a great market success,” Lanner says. “With the TR series, we have launched the most economical and innovative post-shredding solution, which clearly and positively sets itself apart from competitive products.”
UNTHA has been manufacturing shredders since 1981.
