Enterprise Florida honored the companies with the 2010 Governor’s Business Diversification Award in the category called “Green-to-Gold.” The award is given to Florida companies or organizations that, through product or process, best exemplify “green” leadership as it pertains to the state’s goals to become a leader in this emerging field.
Sun Recycling, which bills itself as Florida’s largest independent construction and demolition recycler, has 10 facilities located in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties.
“We applaud all of these municipalities and other private businesses that have made a commitment to recycle,” says Charles Gusmano, CEO of Southern Waste Systems. “The only way the state’s goal is reachable is if more local governments get on board and make this a priority.”
Sun Recycling, a construction and demolition debris recycling company affiliated with Southern Waste Systems, operates facilities in the Florida cities of Pompano Beach, Dania Beach, West Palm Beach, Lantana, Deerfield Beach and Miami.
