PowerScreen Opens Support Center in Dominican Republic
Powerscreen of Florida, a dealer of aggregate processing equipment made by Ireland-based Powerscreen, has opened a new support center in the Dominican Republic.

The center has been established to offer improved product availability and support to customers in the region, according to the long-time Powerscreen dealership, which was founded in 1984 by Denis Grant. Powerscreen of Florida has “earned a reputation as a leader in the sales, rental and aftermarket support of crushing and screening equipment in Florida, Georgia, the Caribbean and Latin America,” according to a Powerscreen news release.

The Lakeland, Fla.-based dealership has added locations in its 27-year history, and now has support centers in Atlanta, Haiti and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

After growing steadily in the 1990s and early 2000s, the company hired Rafael Bournigal to develop sales in the Caribbean and Latin America.

The warehouse and support center in the Dominican Republic will operate under the name of a newly formed company, Powerscreen Caribbean. Its goal is to maintain a staff and offer full parts inventory, a service department and a complete stock of equipment available for sale or rent.

Powerscreen Caribbean customer Constructora Hermanos Yarull has bought 10 machines in the past year, deploying much of that equipment at a Barrick gold quarry. “Our relationship with Powerscreen Caribbean/Powerscreen of Florida started many years ago through Rafael Bournigal,” Constructora Hermanos owner Pedro Yarull says.

More information on Powerscreen crushing, screening or washing products can be found at www.powerscreen.com. Powerscreen is part of the Terex Materials Processing segment of Terex Corp., Westport, Conn.

New Holland Construction Launches Seven New Skid Steer Loaders
New Holland Construction, Racine, Wis., has introduced seven skid steer loaders. With the new 200 Series, New Holland says it maintains the best-in-class forward dump height and reach with the Super Boom® loader vertical-lift design and introduces productivity improvements. The new skid steers culminate five years of customer research, design and engineering improvements, the company adds.

The New Holland L218, L220, L223, L225 and L230 skid steer loaders feature the patented vertical lift Super Boom design. The new self-leveling bucket feature on the five models with the Super Boom is designed to allow attachments to maintain the preset location throughout the lift cycle.

For long load and carry operations, the optional Glide Ride feature on the five New Holland skid steer loader models with the Super Boom is designed for a smooth ride over the rough job sites.

These five models are rated from 57 horsepower to 84 horsepower. The L218 has an operating weight of 5,850 pounds and a bucket breakout force of 5,435 pounds. The L230 has an operating weight of 8,300 pounds and a bucket breakout force of 8,585 pounds.

New Holland also has introduced two compact models, the L213 and L215. Each features a radial-lift design, providing excellent digging performance.

The increased wheelbase on the New Holland 200 Series skid steer loaders allows operators to lift and haul more material, increasing productivity.

New Holland 200 Series skid steer loaders also feature 16- to 25.5-gallon fuel tanks, allowing operators to work 10 to 12 hours before refueling.

Atlas Copco Introduces XATS 1050 CD7 Compressor
Atlas Copco has introduced the XATS 1050 CD7 compressor. Replacing the XATS 950, the XATS 1050 CD7 features a new engine, air-end, cooling fan and controller.

The Atlas Copco XATS 1050 CD7 engine complies with the new emission standards that went into effect in the United States, Canada, Japan and Europe in January 2011. The new standards are part of the U.S. EPA Nonroad Regulation Tier 4A and the EU Nonroad-Directive Stage IIIB (Tier 4A/Stage IIIB). The legislation mandates substantial decreases in the emission of particulate matter and nitrogen oxide from off-road diesel engines, and Atlas Copco’s newest compressor meets the new standard.

The new air-end in the XATS 1050CD7 is designed to operate more efficiently than its predecessors. Preliminary testing of the new model indicates that it will significantly reduce fuel consumption. Fuel economy is also improved by the variable-speed cooling fan, which is designed to run only as needed rather than continually.
