Terex Finlay has introduced the J-1170 primary mobile jaw crusher, which the Northern Ireland-based company describes as a high-performance unit “built around the renowned and aggressive Terex 44-inch by 28-inch jaw crusher, with a proven track record in recycling, aggregate production and mining applications.”
“The J-1170’s 99,600-pound transport weight and compact dimensions mean lower transport costs between and within crushing sites,” says Keith McCann, Terex Finlay sales and marketing director. “The robust and intelligent chassis design, with good clearance on both ends, also enables safe and easy loading onto all transport trailers. When you combine these factors with the excellent crushing capabilities the machine easily meets the demands of owner operators and crushing contractors,” adds McCann.
The 44-inch-by-28-inch jaw chamber is designed to provide “excellent material reduction and product sizing in the processing of blasted quarry rock and ore material,” says Terex Finlay in a news release. The jaw chamber is available with optional hydraulic release, a feature designed to optimize the crushing of construction and demolition debris. The hydraulic release option has an automatic overload protection system designed to prevent damage by un-crushable items in the feed material.
The machine is powered by a Tier 4i DC9 70A 350 hp (257kW) engine made by Sweden’s Scania Group.
Hydrostatic transmission of the jaw chamber is designed to provide operators with reversible operation in the event of a blockage. The hydrostatic system also provides variable chamber speed to suit any particular applications. The crusher also features a hydraulic-assist chamber CSS (closed-side setting) adjustment “and can be changed in a matter of minutes,” according to Terex Finlay.
The J-1170 also has a heavy-duty variable speed vibrating grizzly feeder with an integrated pre-screen, designed to provide “an aggressive action to separate fines material efficiently,” according to the news release. Material from the pre-screen can be diverted to a stock pile via the on board bypass conveyor or can join the crushed product on the main belt, notes Terex Finlay.
The 12.55-cubic yard hopper has hydraulically folding sides and a hydraulic self-locking mechanism designed to provide efficient and faster machine set-up and tear-down times.
