Demolition

A historic dam in Raleigh, North Carolina, is coming down. The Milburnie Dam, which once powered parts of the city, has not produced power for two decades.

Demolition of the Milburnie Dam began Nov. 15, 2017. According to a report on WRAL.com, the removal of the dam will be good for the Neuse River’s wildlife and help make the river safer for people who would get too close to the dam water.

Raleigh-based Restoration Systems LLC is performing the removal and has an entire website dedicated to the project that can be accessed at https://milburniedam.com/.
