Kobelco Construction Machinery USA, Houston, a manufacturer of excavators and excavation technology, has appointed Jordan Lumpkins technical publication, IT specialist.

Jordan Lumpkins

Lumpkins role will initially be leading the company’s communications infrastructure to ensure the company can quickly and seamlessly respond to customer inquiries, parts orders, service calls and warranty claims.

“Having the keys to our new facility handed to us on March 1st just before the spring selling season gave us a true sense of urgency,” says Lumpkins. “The speed and frequency at which we’re adding employees and dealers necessitate that the infrastructure be built to support a fast paced, organization poised for aggressive growth.”

“Jordan’s proven track record, broad range of talents and get-it-done attitude was something we really needed. As one of the first Kobelco employees brought on board, we asked him to take ownership of many projects. As Kobelco makes its comeback in North America, highly qualified personnel such as Lumpkins will be crucial to the company’s long-term success,” says Ron Hargrave, vice president of marketing and sales for Kobelco Construction Machinery USA.

Once the initial technical infrastructure is established, Lumpkins will oversee the company’s IT department, while shifting to dealer support and marketing role. By acting as a liaison between Kobelco engineers in Japan and those in North America, Lumpkins will work to ensure that all technical specifications, product manuals, training manuals, Website and additional information published by the company is customized to both the US and Canadian markets.

Kobelco also announced the appointment of Dennis Hines as a Technical Parts Assistant in support of the brand's relaunch in North America. Expansion of the parts and service department is a natural transition to provide industry leading after-the-sale support to Kobelco’s nationwide dealer network and contractor customers. Hines brings with him to Kobelco more than 20 years of industry specific parts and technical service experience.

Dennis Hines

Although this position is new to Hines, the Kobelco brand is not. He served as a parts technician for Kobelco from 1988 – 2003. Returning to the company in a similar position ensures he’ll be able to pick up where he left off. “Having the opportunity to rejoin Kobelco’s parts and service team is a great honor,” states Hines. “As a former employee, I am looking forward to once again being part of an organization that is Driven By Passion; Passion for its people, its products, its service and its customers. Parts and service is so critical in this industry. Kobelco understands that. It’s ingrained in the company culture on every level.”

Hines will be responsible for locating parts and fulfilling parts orders and for providing customers and dealers with pricing, availability and lead times. He will assist with inventory control and the overall day-to-day operation of Kobelco’s part distribution facility in Houston.

Highly qualified personnel such as Hines are critical to Kobelco achieving its aggressive, long-term market share goals, says the company. “Dennis has a long history and proven track record as a parts assistant,” says Lumpkins. “His skills and experience in the industry will benefit our service department tremendously.”
