Demolition of the former East Street school in Warren, Pennsylvania, is underway is expected to be completed this fall, per discussions of a government commission in that city.
According to an online report by the Times Observer, based in Warren, the school was built in 1895 but has been closed for up to 60 years, since the early 1960s.
The article quotes a city zoning official as saying the building has experienced “20 years for blight.”
The building’s owner has told the city he intends to salvage some items from the structure, including a bell tower and chimneys, according to the Times Observer.
