The scheduled demolition of a 174-foot silo in Vordingborg, Denmark, went awry April 6 when the structure fell in the wrong direction, crushing the exterior wall of an adjacent structure in the process, Business Insider reports.
A cleared landing zone was prepared for the demo, but the silo instead tipped toward a neighboring cultural center consisting of a library and music school. Although a side wall of the structure was demolished, nobody was injured.
Danish authorities noted that the site appeared to be correctly prepared with explosives, but an investigation is underway to find the underlying cause of the misstep.
The Vordingborg library posted Facebook images of the incident, which showed extensive structural damage and debris strewn throughout the facility.
