A 15-foot brick and steel wall collapsed at a Boston demolition site, injuring two workers, a report by WCVB says. The 90-year-old Wollaston Theater's final wall was being demolished when it collapsed.
A 38-year-old man was caught under 3 to 4 feet of brick, plus a steel beam across his chest, Deputy Chief Jack Cadegan said in the report. Witnesses said the other employee, a 40-year-old man, was in the basket of a boom truck when the wall began to fall. He jumped and landed on the bricks below.
The employees, who worked for Jamie McGuinness and Sons, are expected to fully recover. The company said in the report that all proper construction procedures were followed. OSHA is investigating.
