Purchase of Soil Remediation Inc. designed to strengthen the company’s presence in the Southeast.
Clean Earth Inc., Hatboro, Pa., has announced the acquisition of Soil Remediation Inc. (SRI), located in Kingsland, Ga. The acquisition will mark Clean Earth’s ninth soil treatment and recycling location in the United States. The company says the deal will allow the company to expand its soil recycling disposal services in both the Florida and Georgia remediation markets.
SRI, now known as Clean Earth of Georgia, is a thermal treatment facility that processes non-hazardous petroleum-contaminated soils.
Chris Dods, president and CEO of Clean Earth, says, “Joining our talent, experience and geography will provide great synergies and superior service to the South Georgia/Northern Florida market and continue to solidify Clean Earth’s position as a leading impacted soil recycler. Our team is excited about our growth in new markets.”
In 2011, Clean Earth recycled about 3 million tons of soil derived from construction sites in the Northeast. These recycled soil volumes are expected to increase in 2012 with the acquisition of SRI, and the success of Clean Earth of Southern Florida, located in Moore Haven, Fla.
In addition to Clean Earth of Georgia, Clean Earth owns and operates 10 facilities throughout the northeast. Treatment platforms at these locations consist of bioremediation, chemical fixation of RCRA hazardous waste, thermal desorption, aggregate production, drill cuttings and pipeline cuttings, and stabilization of dredged material.
